Chris West
Professional Fly Fishing Guide

Trained by several generations of knowledge, I often wonder if I was bred to fly fish. At the age of fifteen I began working under Tom Darling, the former proprietor of the Avid Angler, and continued to sponge countless bits of information from world traveled professionals and good friends alike. Of my greatest blessings, this experience taught me the unique fisheries of the Pacific Northwest while instilling traditions of hard work and appreciation to all my experiences. I pride myself on knowledge and understanding and will continually explore any resource to become more educated with anything fly fishing related. To me there is no better satisfaction.

Indeed, with so much exposure to all kinds of fishing possibilities, I inevitably found something that sparked my passion and has driven me to completely immerse myself to nearly freakish levels. It is the saltwater that has become my complete focus and love of fishing. From shore or boat, I target all species and specifically seek sea-run cutthroat, dolly varden, and salmon throughout the year. Using 200 miles of available beach line, I often fish from foot choosing several locations each day in search of feeding fish.

It is this practice that I offer professionally. Expect a guided experience that envelops both fishing and teaching. The course of the day will attempt to not only catch fish but engrain techniques and theories that will improve fly fishing knowledge and skill. This unique fishery contains some of the most enjoyable fly fishing in the world and I appreciate any opportunity to entertain clients in the Puget Sound.
