Professional Fly Fishing Guide

I have always had a weird obsession with fish.  I can remember the early days fishing the surf in New York and Massachusetts, staying up all night in anticipation of an early morning on the water, like it was Christmas or something.  For the most part, I was just excited at the thought of seeing a few fish.

Eventually, I progressed to fishing the surf armed with a fly-rod targeting stripers, blues and the occasional false albie all along the coast of the Northeast.  During college in Maine, I was introduced to light tackle trout fishing and was lucky enough to spend a considerable amount of time chasing bones around various Bahamian flats.  This kind of exposure was enough to turn an obsession into a profession, and so I migrated West in search of a place that satisfied my needs as a fly angler as well as a guide.

The fisheries of Pacific Northwest certainly do that for me.  After a brief stint guiding in Alaska, I have immersed myself in the rivers, creeks and saltwater of Washington state and continue to experience new things in a region that has incredible variety within the species you can target as well as the water you can fish.  Thousands of beaches and creeks have given me an endless source of discovery and hope in the outdoors.  My goal now is to share my love of fish and the outdoors with as many people as possible; what better vessel is there than fly-fishing, and what better venue than the Northwest?

The experience is what matters. Whether you're alone on the Sauk in March during a quiet snowfall, or hunched over in the middle of a turqouise flat staring at a school of tailing bones, you musn't take these places we fish or the fish themselves for granted.  Appreciate what's there and love every minute of the hard work you put into it, sooner or later one will take.

"Ted is a true professional.  I felt very comfortable.  He knew how to handle a drift boat on a larger river, knew where the fish were, and is very patient in instructing those new to Spey casting.  I am really grateful that I did this, it will help me with my casting with smaller rods.  Best of all, it was a real ego booster.  I am still jacked that I can cast a 13+ foot rod and follow through.

P.S. Ted’s lunch was just what we needed, seaweed salad with pickled ginger, rice and albacore tuna.  It’s like he knew what our diet is.  What a treat!"
