Recommended Checklist for Clothing and Equipment -- Winter


Winter: The Short List (single day trips)
Breathable waders
Wading boots
Gore-tex Rain Jacket
Waterproof hat or wool hat
Warm Gloves
Rod/Spey rod and reel
with multi tip wallet if applicable
Fleece jacket
Sunscreen
Sunglasses
Wading staff
Camera

Winter: The Long List (extended stay with multiple day trips)
Breathable waders
Wading boots
Neoprene wading socks(optional)
2 long sleeve “Quick Dry” type shirts, NO COTTON
“Quick Dry” type pants, NO COTTON
2 long sleeve fleece, windstopper tops, NO COTTON
2 pairs heavy weight long underwear, NO COTTON
2 fleece, windstopper if possible pants, NO COTTON
1-2 heavy, warm, Goretex rain jackets
Waterproof hat
Warm fleece/wool hat
Brimmed hat
Wading Belt
2 pairs of warm waterproof gloves
Personal dry bag
4 pairs smart wool or similar socks, NO COTTON
Personal clothing for after trip
Sunscreen
Sun gloves(optional)
2 fly rods and reels for trout/bass
2-6 weight rods, with sink tip and floating lines
2-3 fly rods and reels for steelhead/salmon
6-10 weight rods, with multi-head, full sinking, sink tip and floating lines

This is recommended for single day trips during the winter. For multi-day trips, include additional items for personal use as needed and increase the number as well as these additional items. Again this is just a checklist to help you plan for your trip. Not all items on this list are required for each trip as some trips include many of these items.
