Mike McCoy floats underneath the tall trees just below the National Park on the Hoh River.

In Washington, state law requires that no wild steelhead be removed from the water, not even for photos. Compliance is necessary for their survival.

Roy Dunbar swings below the moss laiden trees of the Sol Duc River. Low and clear make is tough.

This is THE water steelhead look for in many of our coastal rivers as far a structure goes. Knowing this can help anglers make good decisions on what water to fish but you have to know what is below the surface so go check out your favorite runs at really low flows, knowledge is everything.

The tell tale sign of a native/wild steelhead, its adipose fin just ahead of the tail, different on every fish and worth admiration.

Shannon Carroll finds a nice Dolly Varden on the lower Hoh River. Many shrug these off as a hassle or worthless species but should be considered as regal as steelhead in the sense that they too are a native species here.

RA Beattie holds a nice one on the Hoh River for both the video and still camera as we shoot our upcoming steelhead conservation film.
