Skykomish River, Washington

How
many people live in Seattle unaware of the beauty and serenity that
lies so close as they fight for commuting space on giant concrete
trails to daily habitation? Literally millions of people are oblivious
to the gorgeous runs, crystal waters, and scenery to die for that
exists along the banks of the "Sky" just a short drive from
this metropolis.
On
the flank of the Wenatchee Mountains, the Skykomish is never devoid
of people but space is always there for swinging a line, testing
flies and challenging the generally held assumption that people
who fish in the winter must be crazy. Of course if the thought of
venturing forth in the bleak days of "rain forest central"
is just too much, summer run fish also course this lovely drainage
system falling tumultuously from the green hills of the Cascades.
Some of steelheading's most noted fly anglers cut their teeth on
the Sky, and even now, generations later, flies like the Skykomish
Sunrise still hold court with fish and fishers.
Both
summer and winter runs host hatchery and native steelhead with fall
providing a run of chum, Coho and on odd years Pink salmon as well.
We highly recommend the use of spey rods on this and the Sauk and Skagit Rivers. We have a full line of them for you to use from Winston, Scott and Sage and our guides are accomplished spey casters and instructors more than happy to teach you this unique style of fly fishing.
