Farquhar

The southern most islands of the Seychelles already have a reputation as perhaps the best bonefishing and trevally destination in the world, yet still only a handful of anglers have wet their flies in these extremely rich waters. These islands are as close to unfished as you can get and loaded with big bonefish and trevally. All the fishing is unguided, although the crew can assist and help you if necessary. Daily you will be transported from the mothership to the flats of the lagoons via small skiffs where they will assist you with catching bonefish and other species like trevally, pompano and barracuda, but they are not guides as you might have experienced in the Caribbean. However fly fishing guides can be arranged.

The mothership being used is the MV Illusions, a very spacious, safe, stable and comfortable live-aboard catamaran. This vessel is able to take you to flats and islands, that were once considered inaccessible. The MV Illusions, 21.4m long/ 7m wide and made of steel, is built to European / USA standards. The MV Illusions has air conditioned double cabins with bathrooms, spacious lounge and dining area, large sun deck and platform as well as individual storage lockers. Here are some more specs:

Saloon: The spacious air conditioned saloon includes a bar and seats for 14 persons. The saloon has a TV, video recorder and extensive video library, CD collection and board games.
Double bed – bunk cabins: Both are available on the vessel, some of them with a private bathroom or with a shared one. Guests have large cupboard space. All cabins have forced air ventilation and electrical wall-mounted fans. 220V 50hz electricity is available in the cabins with a 3-pin hole.
Bathrooms: Four bathrooms with showers and toilet are available for guests plus an outdoor cold water shower.
Decks: The top deck is covered by shade cloth and is used for all dining purposes. This 36m² area also provides a wonderful view to watch for circling birds and to spot whale sharks during the months of August and November. The other two spacious decks, aft and fore deck can be used as platforms for scuba diving, snorkeling, blue water fishing, sunbathing or watching dolphins playing in the surface.

Cosmoledo and Astove Atolls

This is your chance to meet the ultimate experience of fly fishing in the Seychelles!
Fly fish The islands of Astove and Cosmoledo on board the MV Illusions , and cruise to the southernmost islands of the Seychelles, one of the last fly fishing frontiers only reachable by boat. During this trip there will be mix of flats and bluewater fishing and of course the crew will try to accomodate every anglers wishes in terms of targeted species.

On the flats of the these atolls you can expect record sized bonefish, Indian Ocean permit, queenfish, trevally, large barracuda, groupers, snappers and triggerfish.

Cosmoledo and Astove are the home of HUGE GIANT TREVALLY (50 to 80 Lbs +). Record hunters will have the possibility to put their name in the IGFA record book, but they have to be prepared with a 12 – 14 weight rod, high quality saltwater large reel with at least 300 meters of 40/50 lbs backing and suitable leaders. These huge fish will only eat BIG flies!
