Our Lodge on Tarpon Caye has three cabanas, a clubhouse/restaurant, and a fly tying shop soon to come!. The entire lodge is fully self-sustained. It is equipped with a 24KW diesel generator that provides 24 hour electricity to the facility for our clients comfort. The lodge has full running fresh water to the entire facility. Each cabana has its own private restroom & shower (h/c), two beds, private porch enabling you to watch the Permit tailing right from you room!
Tarpon Caye has a deep lagoon on the West side, which is protected by tall red mangrove trees. This lagoon is one of the hottest tarpon fishing spots in Belize. This area is comprised of hundreds of square miles of flats and mangroves and to many, this area is known to be the “Permit Capital” of the world! These flats will go from 6 inches on top, then drop to 75-100 feet of water on the edges, making these flats the perfect habitat for permit.
Permit can be found on these flats in good numbers. You can get to cast to up to 20 tailing fish on an average day; bonefish are also plentiful on the more sandy flats in this area.
Dinners at the lodge usually consist of generous portions of fresh seafood including lobster, conch, shrimp or freshly caught fish. Local Belizean fare such as chicken and pork with local vegetables are also regularly on the menu.
The resident cook Melanie would be happy to prepare your favorite dish, all you have to do is just ask! Try the fried plantains! Ice cold Belikin beers are in the fridge & iced filled cooler while cold bottled water and sodas are always available as well.
