In 2013 when we decided open our retail store, we were keenly aware of a vacancy in this areas fly fishing community, specifically for women which we immediately set out to change. With the help of Abbie Schuster hired as our first EWA Women's Coordinator, we launched EWA Women on the Water.
All too often we were hearing from many women as well as other members of minority groups that there was an intimidation barrier to simply walking into a fly shop.
We wanted to break down the barriers for ALL underrepresented groups making the effort to enjoy this sport.
Our mission is to create fun, accessible, educational and emotive experiences through our retreats, day trips, schools, presentations and conservation efforts for every person interested in doing so.

We recognize that many folks do not feel welcome, or safe, or recognized while participating in fly fishing and other outdoor recreational pursuits.
E.W.A. isn't a program. It is a commitment from us to create the space that is safe and inclusive for ANY person who wants to explore the great outdoors with a fly rod in hand.
