Rio Dorado and Rio Juramento – Golden Dorado

Species:
Golden Dorado
Season:  July – September, February – May
Capacity:  4
Cost:  Contact Us
Insurance: GLOBAL RESCUE

Golden Dorado have become a spotlight species over the past few years with new operations either opening or existing ones getting more attention.  Either way, these two dramatically different river systems offer fly anglers 2 favorite methods for pursing fish.  Sight casting in small water with surface flies or stripping huge streamers  across likely holding structure in bigger water from a boat.  Either way, this is a great combination trip.

Rio Dorado is the smaller of the two rivers.  At low water, anglers will see many of the fish they are going to cast to requiring a stalking of the fish and more accurate presentations.  The lodge is situated on a 40,000 acre parcel of land rendering no access to the water except by the visiting party at the lodge.  Every corner is. a new discovery and it won’t seem feasible but fish nearing 20 pounds may come from this water the size of a mountainous stream, at times no more than 20 feet wide.  Scenery is spectacular but anglers earn every bit of it with long days of hiking in and out of the watershed.

Rio Juramento is far less secluded, other anglers will be seen and being a tailwater fishery, with tributaries, it can blow out after rainfall and remain this way for some time.  Less of a mountain experience but this is where anglers will find fewer fish but the ones found play in the different weight class on average.  Fishing from a boat every day and the entire time provides a nice break after having put 20 or more miles in on Rio Dorado the previous 4 days.

Please contact us to discuss this unique fishery in more detail.
